After a rather eventful E3 I think it would be fair to say that we have all got some games that have flown straight to the top of the “must play” list and others that would have left a less than favourable impression, so here are my choices for the games that actually look decent, leaving me eagerly anticipating the release date so that I can jump head first into the world. Oh the trouble I know I am going to get into with these top notch games.
The following list is in no particular order
1. Cyberpunk 2077
Anything that is being brought to us from the geniuses behind the Witcher series should immediately have your attention! I had been keeping a close eye on this for a while, for the longest time we knew precious little, to an extent we still know little but we do know it looks incredible.
2. Assassins Creed Odyssey
Ancient Greece is one of my favourite points in history and it is clear that Ubisoft are flying high after the success of the Origins, the changes that they implemented into our adventure through Ancient Egypt was much welcome and clearly they are expanding upon these needed changes in Odyssey. My one serious criticism here is WHERE THE HELL IS MY SHIELD!!!
3. The Last of Us Part 2
The Last of Us is widely seen as being one of the best video games of all time, with good reason. An emotional story that has you gripped form the get go, stunning gameplay with a great cast of characters and interesting environments that are a joy to work through. From what we have seen so far of the highly anticipated sequel we are looking at another masterpiece to say the least. Ellie has become an absolute badass and I simply cannot wait to play as her through her graphic ordeal, oh and for all those complaining about her sexuality come on, seriously, are you really that surprised?
4. Days Gone
I love a good zombie game, most people do but I have to emphasise good! Trying to survive a whole horde of intelligent zombies as you fight for everything in this world where there are dangers around every corner in many forms is definitely on the right path to a good zombie game.
5. Ghosts of Tushima
Samurai! Need I say more? Well I’m gonna anyway, from SuckerPunch Studio who are behind the hit RPG series Infamous comes what looks to be one of the best samurai games I might ever get the pleasure of playing.
6. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
Anything From one of my favourite studios known as From Software instantly has my attention! I am a long time fan of the Souls series, I think Miyazaki is a video game genius, much like Hideo Kajima I am always willing to give his new stuff a try… I must acknowledge however that shadows die twice doesn’t look much like a souls game, doesn’t mean it won’t make for a fantastic experience, I was one of those that was praying for a Bloodborne 2 though.
7. Fallout 76
I have long thought that this apocalyptic game would make the perfect setting for a MMO, so all I can say to Bethesda is “It’s about damn time!” Also if you are feeling generous then a Fallout 3 remaster would be much appreciated *nudge nudge, wink wink*
8. Resident Evil 2 Remaster
Oh how I love this series! I am a massive fan of any instalment that involves Leon Kennedy, his and Claire Redfields first outing was a fantastic, terror filled night of horror that looks positively terrifying with its gruesome makeover! January can’t come soon enough, I loved the return to form in Resident Evil 7, I am thrilled to see Capcom keeping the momentum going with one of the best franchises in the whole of horror.
There are plenty of other games that made quite the impression on me, perhaps I will have to do a part 2 to this quick list. One thing I can safely say is that I will be releasing posts on each of these games (potentially more) explaining in detail what it is about the title that I am looking forward to, from the story, the characters to the graphics and the world. What games are you excited for? Do any of my picks interest you, did I miss one of your picks? If so let me know! It might make part 2 of this list.
